A very different Victorian Boy in profile pendant with hair art, 14K

I bought this beauty by a mistake, I thought I was bidding on the piece before this beautiful boy was on. I made a mistake because I don’t know anything about this type of piece. I know that the Victorians loved hair pieces in all creative ways both as a way to remember a deceased loved one but also as a token of love or friendship with the living.
 
And what about the glass dome? It is super heavy and dense, I’ll guess it’s crystal. But how did they get the finely carved boy in there? Is it like an Essex crystal where they carved out the figure to the backside of the crystal and then painted it, making it 3D?
 
Well, I actually don’t know but I’m sure this boy had his reasons to come to me and that some of you out there are here for him. That’s how it used to be with these “coincidences”.
 
I've added a black shiny ribbon and it looks amazing! But I can also see it on a long thick chain!
